WHY NOW? THE REBIRTH OF THE SPACE INDUSTRY

The global space industry grew to $330 billion in 2014, an increase of nearly 40% since 2007. SpaceX and Orbital Sciences have sent cargo missions to the International Space Station with Blue Origins not far behind. China landed on the Moon, India launched a mission to Mars, and Planetary Resources, Deep Space Industries, and Moon Express announced plans for space-based moon and asteroid mining. Virgin Galactic and XCOR continue testing their space tourism vehicles, Made in Space has sent its first 3D printer to the International Space Station and Google, Facebook, SpaceX, PlanetLabs, Satellogic and many smaller companies are racing to set up next generation satellite systems that integrate space data with the Internet of Things.
